3rd Annual Bookstore Romance Day on Saturday, August 20, 2022

Bookstore Romance Day is a day designed to give independent bookstores an opportunity to celebrate Romance fiction—its books, readers, and writers—and to strengthen the relationships between bookstores and the Romance community. (from https://bookstoreromanceday.org)

The website above has listings of the bookstores that are involved in this event. I hope you are able to take the time to visit one or at least hunker down with a romance novel on your own in celebration.

I’ll be in person at North Charleston, SC’s Itinerant Literate this Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. I am representing both the Lowcountry Romance Writers of America (LRWA) and Georgia Romance Writers (GRW). I am the current president of LRWA and the director of the GRW Moonlight & Magnolias conference.

LRWA’s anthology will be published in early October. These twelve stories are all set, at least partially, in South Carolina and take place from Halloween to Valentine’s Day. It’s been fun working with these seasoned and new writers to fine tune their stories for publication.

Which means, yes, I did write a story for the anthology. The title is “No Regrets” and it is about a couple in their early sixties. If you like older characters in your stories, this one is for you.

I’m also editing “Cathy’s Corner” and hope to have it published by the end of this year. Editing is difficult, let me tell you. This novel is set in the imaginary town of Marion’s Corner. Marion’s Corner is a mash up of North Charleston and Moncks Corner, South Carolina. I grew up in Pinopolis, a peninsula on Lake Moultrie, right outside of Moncks Corner and I currently like near North Charleston. It makes research fun and easy.

Georgia Romance is holding its 40th Annual Moonlight & Magnolias conference from Oct. 20 to 23 at the Crowne Plaza in SW Atlanta. There are one-day options for Thursday (Deb Dixon’s GMC full-day workshop), Sunday (Melinda Curtis’s Pen-to-Paper craft workshop), and the entire conference option. There’s a reader luncheon, author book signing, Maggies Awards Banquet, and after party.

This is our reward for sitting alone writing all year!

The host hotel is fully booked, but the overflow hotel is quite close, and there’s a shuttle between the two.

It’s going to be a wonderful event that’s the perfect venue for authors to celebrate their wins, learn, and make new friends.

On a personal note, my frozen embryo transfer in vitro fertilization baby turns twenty years old today. Twenty! He’s been a delight. For all the women in the world struggling with infertility, I’m in your corner. We were very lucky that modern medical science made this member of our family a possibility.

That’s it! I’m usually the second Thursday blogger but switched with someone for this date. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying an awesome summer.
