Time is the Simplest Thing

“Time is the Simplest Thing”—so claims the alien called “Pinkness” in Clifford D. Simak’s classic sci‑fi novel. That book was my first forbidden read from the adult shelves of our local library. I’m also fascinated by time, and the idea of concentrating all our energy on the Now appeals to me for a number of reasons. Thanks for putting this truth in my path today.

I have to admit, I think about time too much. How much time does it take for me to finish a manuscript, to run a marathon, to get to the airport? How much time does it take for the person in front of me at the deli to order a BLT? How long before my alarm rings? (Yes, I often wake before it rings, so the question is moot.) How much time do I have left on this planet? The good news is that the older I get, the less I worry about it.

Absolutely loved this post, T.K. When I first encountered the words”quantum theory,” I did a bunch of reading to try to understand it. I learned that “time” is a construct of our own imagination, which led me to a deeper awareness of how much we don’t really know. And, as you suggest, it allowed me to let go of useless worries over things I cannot possibly control. Thanks for the reminder.
